SSC Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the central seven-person elected body that governs our youth-run organization. Elected each year by the general membership, Executive Committee members set the direction for the organization, monitor and assist the organization's progress by participating in fundraising efforts and budget allocation decisions, support organizational structure and facilitate communication between committees, and work to monitor, increase and strengthen membership and leadership. The Executive Committee also works to develop personal strategic relationships with other Sierra Club entities including the Sierra Club board, leaders of national committees, chapters and programs and develop programs to further collaborate and advocate for Club policies that benefit the SSC.

The ExCom is elected every year by the general membership.

To listen in on an ExCom call: All ExCom calls and meetings are open to all SSC members. Currently, we have weekly conference calls Wednesdays at 6PM Eastern on the regular SSC line. To access to conference line information, e-mail holly@ssc.org

Aaron is from the heartland of the states: Omaha, Nebraska. He loves this place with all his heart- but was called to leave it to go to school in Southern Maryland at St. Mary's College, another place he loves! He got involved with the SSC back in 2005 as a wide-eyed, naive high school "organizer."  Now, four years later he works on the campus, community and national levels to fight dirty energy and bring clean energy solutions to his communities. Some of the amazing groups (besides the SSC) that he works with are: the Summer of Solutions: Omaha, the Maryland Student Climate Coalition, Nebraskans for Peace, the St. Mary's Student Environmental Action Coalition, the Energy Action Coalition and a few more. He truly believes in the power of people, and loves to build relationships by sharing stories and going on bike rides!

I am a freshman at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras majoring in social sciences focused in geography. I started with the SSC when I was a high school sophomore as a Sprog trainer at Puerto Rico Sprog in 2007. Since then I have been Sprog director, part of the Trainings Committee and participate actively with my local Sierra Club. Being part of the SSC has been one of the most inspiring and cultivating experiences of my life. When I am not organizing I enjoy playing guitar, eating and going to the outdoors.

Holly Jones

Chair
Holly is a senior at the University of Iowa, majoring in History and Environmental Studies. Since joining the SSC in 2007 she has been extensively involved, serving as co-chair of the Conservation Committee and a member of Trainings Committee. In addition to being ExCom chair, she is also on the Steering Committee of the Iowa Sustainability Alliance. When not organizing, Holly loves cooking, singing, and spending time outdoors in the great state of Iowa!

In addition to being the AO Liaison for the Executive Committee, Miranda is also a new member to Trainings Committee and is excited to work on the Sprog Re-design subcommittee. When not working on SSC-related tasks, Miranda loves reading, watching movies, running, and playing rugby.
